Unfortunately, NOT MUCH! The sad truth is that the sentences that animal abusers receive are far too lenient. These pets are our friends and members of our families. They can not speak for themselves. Please help be their voice.
In Denver Colorado a 16 year old boy and a 17 year old boy set a cat on fire and threw him out of a moving vehicle. The cat suffered 3rd degree burns over 40% of his body. He underwent a series of operations to save his life. His left rear leg and his tail had to be amputated. The two boys pled guilty to the crime and were sentenced to only 2 days in jail, a $500 fine and 18 months probation.
