The Companion Animal Protection Act

Mission Statement

Our goal is to be a voice for companion animals and to seek justice on their behalf by working for maximum jail sentences for those who abuse them. We aim to increase public awareness of the frequency of violent crimes against animals and to raise consciousness of the correlation between animal abuse and violent behavior toward people.

Objectives:

1) To work for a federal law called the Companion Animal Protection Act that imposes a mandatory minimum five year prison sentence for anyone convicted of violent or sadistic acts of cruelty against companion animals.

2) To work with humane society investigators, law enforcement officials and prosecutors to obtain information pertinent to animal cruelty cases throughout the United States.

3) To urge prosecutors and judges to work toward getting the toughest possible sentences for those who commit violent acts of cruelty to companion animals and to educate the general public about the prevalence of such crimes.

4) To educate the public about abuse prevention and to offer a means for people to report abuse.

5) To educate the public about the statistical correlation between violent acts against animals and violent acts against people.

6) To encourage others to join our efforts to seek justice for companion animals that have been abused, tortured or killed.

7) To encourage people to spay & neuter their pets, watch out for their safety, and not to view them as disposable.
